This beautiful sculpture portrays Lord Shiva, one of the principal deities of Hinduism, seated majestically in a meditative posture (sukhasana) on a finely carved tiger-skin plinth. The statue features a striking golden body, intricately cast from metal or a high-grade resin compound, which is seamlessly combined with meticulously hand-painted features. Shiva is instantly recognizable by his classical iconography: his matted hair (jata) is piled high, cradling a silver crescent moon and channeling the celestial River Ganga, which springs upward in a light-blue stream. In his right hand, marked with a red sacred Om symbol, he holds a protective cobra (Naga) in the abhaya mudra (gesture of fearlessness), while his left hand rests calmly over his knee holding a string of rudraksha beads. Standing firmly behind him is his divine weapon, the Trishula (trident), which symbolizes his control over creation, preservation, and destruction.

The artwork showcases an exceptional blend of classical divine anatomy and modern Nepalese craftsmanship, explicitly credited to the artist Nirajan Maka. The foundational tiger skin base is realistically modeled, featuring a detailed tiger face at the center that symbolizes Shiva’s mastery over desire and primal power.
