The Sulpture displays a colorful shrine dedicated to Mahakala (specifically a multi-armed wrathful manifestation like Kaal Bhairav or Mahakala), a prominent protector deity revered in both Vajrayana Buddhism and Hinduism across the Kathmandu Valley. The central deity is rendered in bold polychrome pigments, featuring a deep black skin tone that signifies his cosmic, all-devouring power, complemented by a brilliant crown of flames and intensely glaring eyes. In his multiple hands, he brandishes ritual implements, including a raised Kharga (sacred sword) used to cut through ignorance and negative karma. He stands in a powerful, dynamic stance trampling a demonic figure, symbolizing the ultimate triumph over evil forces and spiritual obstacles.

Architecturally, the icon is housed within a beautifully rendered, traditional Nepali structural niche. The shrine is constructed with a dark stone or brick facade, crowned by a tiered roof with three stone gajurus (pinnacles) and decorated with a ceremonial red cloth banner (bami). A dark, intricately carved stone Torana arches immediately above the deity’s head, complete with a protective guardian face watching over the entrance. Guarding the sacred threshold on the lower left and right are two vibrantly painted Chhepu lions (mythical guardian lions) placed on decorative lotus plinths, completing a highly sacred composition designed to evoke divine awe and spiritual protection.
