The sculpture showcases a beautifully constructed traditional Nepali shrine (Kul Devta or deity niche) that epitomizes the rich syncretic architecture of the Kathmandu Valley. The structure is built with a harmonious combination of dark, intricately carved hardwood pillars (thama) and an overhanging wooden roof adorned with a traditional red ceremonial cloth fringe (bami). Crowning the roof are three golden, tiered gajurus (pinnacles), which signify the sacred nature of the monument. Framing the central deity is a brilliant golden Torana (tympanum) featuring the protective guardian Chhepu at the apex, flanked by two circular golden medallions representing the Sun and Moon on a contrasting terracotta-red brick wall backdrop.
At the heart of the shrine sits a powerful, dark-patinated bronze sculpture of Lord Vishnu riding his celestial mount, Garuda (known as Garudasana Vishnu). Vishnu is depicted with multiple arms holding his traditional divine symbols—the Sudarshana Chakra (discus) and Shankha (conch shell)—while a multi-headed Naga (serpent) canopy arches over his crown to offer cosmic protection. Below him, a half-human, half-bird Garuda kneels with outstretched wings, physically supporting the deity. The entire composition rests on a meticulously carved stone or dark metal base, guarded by miniature stone lions at the lower corners, creating a highly sacred and visually compelling architectural masterpiece.
